On rare instances, a bear will take a wrong turn into the 'burbs from the front range here in Denver area. Coyotes have gotten a little more bold in the area, too...not to mention the occasional weirdo on the bike path. Thankfully I haven't had to to use the spray, but I'm glad I have it on my person, just in case.

Next to a gun, this is great. I feel secure knowing it shoots far and wide. I've been robbed twice and I believe this may have prevented that. Note: I am prepared for the robber to fire their gun, but not being able to see what their shooting at. I've also been shot once working inside a store, so I have some experience and have thought about many defenses. Before using any defense device, you'll have to anticipate before and they be within your range. As far as bears, big cats, or wolves, I don't think I'll need it, but you never know. I may encounter some vicious large dogs that want to attack me. I hope I never have to use this and the date expires. I'm thinking of getting a second can for what I want to defend against. Near a year ago, I was delivering and lead into an apartment hallway. I felt strongly what was up. A guy came out from the other end, cocked his gun, pointed, and I was defenseless. Getting robbed is humiliating. I would have damn sure started spraying as he came out 12 feet away. I would have felt more comfort using this first, then a gun if I had to. I'd want them to feel distraught and began feeling very uncomfortably while I'm in battle for my life. Since I've been a victim several times, I have a lot of resentment. Review is NOT based on use since I hope to never have to use it. That being said, we bought this for use against stray dogs that approach as we are walking our dog. We used to carry a big stick which was cumbersome and let's face it, not very effective. With the bear spray, it comes in a very compact holster that fits nicely on a belt loop or in your hand. Easy to follow instructions for use. Good buy IMO. I will update if we ever have to actually USE the contents.
