THIS SURVEY WANT LET YOU SEND YOUR REVIEW UNLESS YOU SAY GOOD VALUE GOOD QUALITY AND YOU RECOMMEND IT i DO NOT ! iT IS MADE OF PLASTIC VERY LOSE BOLTS FIT TO PRE DRILLED HOLES DO NOT THINK IT WILL LAST MORE THAN A YEAR OR SO i BUMPED THE ARM WILE INSTALLING AND HAD TO FIX THE PLASTIC CASE TO KEEP WATER OUT . WHEN INSTALLED THE GATE OPENS VERY SLOW AND IT ONLY A 6 FOOT THIN TUBE GATE WEIGHT ABOUT 90 LBS . . BOTTOM LINE IT THE ONLY GATE OPENER UNDER 400 DOLLARS AND SOME ONE SHOULD START A MARKET WITH ONE MADE OF METAL LIKE THEY USE TO BE MADE 8 YEARS AGO BUY BUT HANDLE WITH CARE AND HOPE NO ONE TRY PUSHING ON IT IT MIGHT COME APART .. iT WORKS NOT WORTH THE MONEY THEY COST

This is our third, and last, Mighty Mule gate. Purchased the mm271 to replace an mm360, which died from water & ants getting into control board. The mm271 swing arm is shorter, which requires drilling new holes to attach the gate bracket. Despite being installed in the exact same location, the mm271 remote control only works from 10ft away or less, essentially defeating the purpose of having a remote control. The old mm360 worked well over 100ft away. Customer Support offered no solutions. One star because it does actually open the gate, minus 4 stars for the horrible remote/antenna system that makes me regret my purchase every time I open the gate.

This the second Might Mule I have owned and used. The first one, which is exactly like this one worked fine for about two years. Then it became erratic: sometimes it would only close about 3/4, at other times it would close all the way. No adjustments would help. Customer support was almost non-existent. When I replaced the old Mule with the new one it was still working in its erratic way! The new one works just as it should. I have it on battery with a solar panel. Time will tell if this new Mule holds up does not become schizophrenic!!

I bought this to replace my mighty mule 350 lost from high water. The board was vulnerable to water infiltration on the 350. The 271 has a control board that can be mounted remotely. This is an improvement over their previous design. I mounted the board underneath my solar panel to keep it high and dry. The draw is shorter on the 271 over the 350. I'm still able to swing a 16' farm gate that is very light weight. One thing I noticed is the rear hinge flange appears to be plastic or coated in plastic. It does look strong. I was a little disappointed to see that. The remote they now give you is different. It is a three button that takes a large coin battery. It is programmable and they did away with the dip switches. I prefer the dip switches. I already had some old remotes I programmed to. The only high risk component of the opener is the control board. Hopefully this one is more reliable. Read full review
