Not perfect, but a decent kit for conversions. The good: Lots of power. The minor problems: The rim had quite a sharp bur where it was welded together. Had to sand that down. Also the PAS connector was wired backwards. The bad: The PAS system does not work well. As soon as it kicks in it gives full power to the motor it seems up to a certain speed. This is not ideally how a PAS should work. It works well with the throttle. The controller gets pretty hot on my longer rides but seems to be ok. For the money it is a great first ebike experience.

I understand that MOST of these hub more kits are fairly reliable. However, I am not one of the lucky ones. I've owned the 48v kit for a little over 3 months and now my hub motor has stopped working. I've been told that the halls sensor is bad and that they are somewhat unreliable. I wish I had known this prior to purchasing. I'm stuck with a kit that doesn't work and I'm out 200 bucks. These kits maybe affordable but there is little to no support after the sale. This is a real bummer.

It is easy to install, good physical appearance and the price is right. ( One complaint: the printing of the controller diagram on the owners manual is so small I have to use a magnifier to read it !). I really want to give it a five but I do not have a way of measuring the motor output... The kids have already put a few miles and a lot of fun on it !!!

This is a narrow wheel, 1.9" as opposed to 2.25" on most MTBs. That's on me for not checking. Also, there is no quick-connect between the terminals and the hub, so if you want to add a frame strengthener you have to cut wires and patch them. Would be much better if the manufacturer had a quick-connect like some other brands. This means it's also going to be quite a pain to change tires/inner-tube. It's got plenty of torque, and is fairly quiet. I'm quite happy with it. I just had to do more than I thought to get it assembled, and not looking forward to tire maintenance.

I put this wheel on my mountain bike for some on/off road use. I am using a 48v 10ah li ion battery that is rated for a 1000w motor and i can get about 20-25 miles on one charge depending on how much I pedal. I have managed to get it up to 31 mph with pedaling on a flat road. It has good speed pick up too, going from 0 - 20 feels like a flash. It is a lot of fun I only have a couple complaints. The kit does not come with very good instructions, so figuring out things like modifying the display required figuring it out on your own. Secondly, while the power is good, I expected a little more torque on takeoff with a 1000w motor. I assumed doing a wheelie would be easy to do with just the torque, but its not. However you can still pop the front tire up like regular and use the throttle and brake to keep it going pretty good.Read full review
