These are the gold standard of strap locks. Very secure - easy on, easy off. I have them on over 80 guitars. Fender & Rickenbacker use the Schaller System. Any guitar I play has them on them, period. Including my vintage guitars. They come in Chrome, black , & gold. These black one just went on a 2001 7 string guitar. Beware of Chinese knock-offs. They do not fit genuine Schaller Strap Locks.

It's a good product, but it should come with two washers for each lock mechanism. Two washers would guarantee that the strap will not slip off. My strap slipped passed the receiving end of the lock that has no washer. Also, the felt washer that is supposed to protect your guitars finish is to small to do any good over the long run.

I have been using Schaller strap locks for over 25 years without a single failure. I needed a new pair of strap lock buttons for a guitar that I had finished building and the whole set of S-locks was the same price here as the Proline copies of the old design at Guitar Center. The improvements: Starting with the buttons, the button and the screw are one piece and the threads seem to be a little thicker than the older versions so no toothpicks or glue on the holes anymore. Now onto the strap locks. The threaded shaft that goes through the strap is both narrower and longer so there is less fighting the nut onto the thread especially when using a thicker strap. Also, there is no more washer and nut to assemble over the shaft. Now the nut and washer are integrated into one thick thumb wheel that is knurled on the outside edge and can be installed with your fingers instead of a socket. There is also a set screw that will lock the thumb wheel in place so it won't slip loose. Thirdly, there is a bevel cut on the plunger inside the cup that allows for smoother and quieter locking action. If you already have a set of the older licks and several guitars with the older buttons, these will be compatible with them a d vice-versa. The neutral: These have a different feel than the older strap locks when unhooking the strap. It's taking a little getting used to after over a quarter century of using the previous design. You will need an allen wrench to install the buttons now and a small slotted screwdriver for the set screw. The bad: I cannot really find any deficiencies.Read full review

I've been playing guitar and buying equipment for 38 years. After having several of the "other" brand fail on me, I started using Schallers and haven't looked back. Easy to install, easy to use, none have failed in my experience. Best money you can spend to protect your valuable instruments.
