I don't know how long the rechargeable battery will last, but I've used mine daily for a couple months now and charged it from my PC, 5 volt wall downverter, cigarette lighter USB in car & it's still working like new Seems to be well made-I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind plugging it in to charge regularly. Has a Blue Light when charging and turns the light off when done. (no need to worry about over charging) The simple charge process is my favorite feature.
