This is a great film. And practicing the concepts that it teaches will bring about change! It truly has in my life!! But I will say that with a dissclaimer: As a Christian and believer in God and Jesus as my Saviour. I found myself struggling as I watched this film. The Law of Attraction is real!! And it works! UNDENIABLY! The best gift you can give yourself and those around you is to stay positive and grateful! Surely if we all did that we would live in a better world!! But let's not loose sight that this world is SET on a course of self destruction and we are ALL in desperate need of deliverance! THAT, we can not provide for ourselves. NOR will ANY amount of positive thinking prevent the course of things to come. MUCH of what is taught in the video is supported in the scriptures! However, NO MENTION of that is ever made in the content. My advise?? watch this film prayerfully, and GLEEN what is of value. And never forget that GOD IN HEAVEN is our "SOURCE ENERGY" that we will ber accountable to Him for what we do, and that Gratitude is what we owe HIM not the Universe. Be Well...Read full review
Touching upon one of the very few common yet basic tenets found within almost every religious doctrine known to man from the earliest historical recordings, the LAW OF ATTRACTION was dealt with in what I consider to be a comprehensive manner. The film could be strengthened, in my opinion, if more effort had been expended on the second of the three components of the law..."believe." More specifically, we should ASK, then BELIEVE, and then we will RECEIVE. The asking part is simple enough...we all have wants, dreams, and needs, but it is the belief in some element that is larger, residing beyond oneself, that was not dealt with sufficiently. In fact, it was brushed over very lightly throughout the entire film. I guess this boils down to the Director believing that mentioning "GOD" or a "Supreme Being" would be above and beyond that which is so commonly shunned nowadays, in this society at least. Too bad...nevertheless, I, for one, will be among the many who try out the formula next time I am at the convenience store buying my lotto tickets! For something a bit more believable try out my new and developing website: http://www.onlineconcepts.org/ I would love to have your critique on our (as yet) unfinished efforts there. 'The Secret' appears to have split the population into those who believe in the power of the mind and the 'law of attraction' and those who don't. Ultimately of course that's a personal decision for you. The actual film is not a movie as such; it's more of a documentary and is made up of contributions from self-help thinkers, philosophers and scientists and also contains a high number of acted out scenes to illustrate the points. Bob Proctor, Bob Doyle, Jack Canfield and Joe Vitale are particularly notable contributors. I have to say that 'The Secret' has a great accompanying soundtrack and is very well packaged and put together. You'd think that the core message of the law of attraction would be boring after a while, but the film breaks this down and applies it to various lifestyle issues such as relationships, money and health. There will be many people who will think some of the contents here are highly controversial e.g. bringing ill health upon yourself through negative thinking, but it is generally agreed from medical experiments that through the 'placebo effect' the human mind can indeed have a very powerful impact on the state and condition of the human body. I am sure that millions of males will tell you that Angelina Jolie didn't turn up on their doors... no matter how hard they fantastised !... You do need to work towards your goals; and a clear compelling vision with a good positive attitude are essential first steps. This film will help you put those in place. Overall 'The Secret' is thought provoking and you should at least give it a run on your DVD player to make up your own mind about it.Read full review
I thought this dvd was well made with an excellent message and easy to understand. They broke it down so it's easy to apply to daily life regardless of one's demographics. The funny thing about it to me was that there's a little promise from God that goes something like "Ask and ye shall receive." The problem is that people fail to realize it has to be God's will as to whether or not they receive. While there are other "ways" to get what you desire, God is the only one who gives freely, but it has to be according to His will. I don't mean to sound like a bible thumper here, but seriously, if everyone can envision a beach house in Malibu, but fact of the matter is, there just aren't enough to go around, regardless of how strong your "desire" or "vision" is. Does is just come down to beating out the next guy because you have a bigger vision than he does??? That makes us no better than 2nd graders on the playground saying "my dad is bigger than your dad." Subsequentially, what The Secret is lacking is the Answer to this: who is ultimately in control of what we do and don't get and to what extent?Read full review
If the whole world was into the Secret, the world would be a better place. The Secret isn't really a "secret," it's been around since the dawn of man. The essence of it is that what you think ultimately becomes your reality. For those who do not understand, the movie and book are apropos. You reap what you sow. If you sow negative thoughts, you get negative results. If you sow positive thoughts, you get positive results. The Secret is very much REAL. When this came out, it was a media darling and sensation. Backlash immediately ensued. The reason was because people weren't becomming overnight billionaires. People's cancer didn't immediately go into remission when people just thought "I'm healed". The results of the microwave and instant gratification generation do not promote nor negate the effectiveness or truthfulness of the principles discussed in the Secret. The authors are precisely correct. You attract, or even create, your own reality from within you. There are millions of people worldwide who will swear by the Secret for the rest of their life. The reason is because they've experienced enough to become believers. For example, I can tell you with 100% certainty that there's no such thing as an idle thought. Every thought going through your mind has an effect on you, your environment, and the universe. How can I be so emphatic? I've proved it to myself. Not only can your life improve as a result of what goes on in your mind, but your thoughts can actually impact people, events, and non-living things. As absurd as it sounds, it's true. If your thoughts can do all that, then how easy is it for your thoughts to impact your own health or well being? Answer: very easy. The movie gets a 4 verses a 5 for two reasons. First, the authors overstate their case. For this reason, there was some resistence from the "secret" world; the world of people who already lived by its principles. We know it doesn't work precisely the way the authors claim. Second, the authors came up with some great recommendations on implementing the secret, but at the end of the day, their recommendations were somewhat anemic. It's not easy for the average everyday person to snap their fingers and start thinking better. In the end, however, trying your hardest to implement the secret will result in you finding a legitimate way to do it. In this world, mind over matter rules the day.Read full review
