This is my second generator. First one came from a big orange box store, and cost more than twice as much! This unit is an addition. I had to convert the first one to propane myself so what a pleasure to have this one come factory ready with the option. Had it shipped to our FedEx terminal, and that was a great experience too. Easy pickup. Unit was shrink wrapped on a pallet with the accessory box strapped to the top. Once home t only took about 15 minutes to get the wheels and front feet on it, hook up the propane hose and tank. Unit comes with a battery tender, so there won't be any nasty surprise when you need it. My one guffaw is that while there was a place to attach a battery hold down strap, none was provided., so the battery bounced around from California to Texas, and is loose on the frame, so caution is advised. Otherwise this is an incredible amount of power for the price. It fired right up (ours was full of oil) Ran very smoothly on propane. I read some reviews that mentioned noise, and compared to my other genset this one is about the same volume. If purchasers are going to need a long electric cable, it will need to be purchased separately. Could hardly expect one included at this price. All in all, I would buy this again without reservation. I don't know the specifications this company needs to call something refurbished, but mine had zero hours, and two small scuffs on one end, like it had been stored standing on end. Aside from that it looked brand new, and the wheel kit had never been installed. This is one of those deals where you gotta strike while the iron is hot!! Phew.Read full review

I have two other generators that are 9000 and 10000 w that run on gas they are quieter than this one when I started up I said wow is it loud the generator look basically new and ran fine on propane the 30 amp 220 plug twist lock had a couple chips out of it which raised concern I haven't checked that out yet, with the 120v outlets seemed to work fine I have a heavy duty compressor that runs on 120 and we'll pull 20 amps when loaded it ran the compressor fine overall I think the generator for the price was great.

Picked the generator up from our local Fedex shipping center, they loaded it on the truck and we took it home. installed the wheel kit (grease it up before installing) mounted the front legs/vibration damper, poured in about a gallon of fuel (no ethanol) checked the oil, (full) pulled out the choke and hit the starter button, running in seconds, it's loud but no more so than others I have used. I plugged my air compressor that had not been run in six months and that put a serious load on it, the Champion took the load and then we hooked up heaters, fans, a drill press all going without putting a strain on it. About then I clicked the hour meter on and was amazed to find there was 0 running hours registering and we had been running the Generator for nearly twenty minutes by then, it is virtually a new generator manufactured in October 2014 and sold as refurbished. Best deal I have run across so far this year. I am pleased as punch.Read full review

I wish there was a 4.75 stars rating but this doesn't deserve only 4 stars. It is so loud, when I plugged in my very loud 12 amp compressor to try and put a load on it, I had to put my ear right next to it to hear it running. The generator barely slowed down for 1/4 second while picking up the load. I have read in reviews of other gennys to put plywood sheets at 60 degree angled up, to redirect the noise. This does work. But with it running outside the detached garage in the driveway, I can hear it in the house. My poor neighbor has master bedroom next to our driveway...I will probably have to let them run an extension cord as payment for the noise. I was trying to find the best value generator and bought a sidewalk sale 5000W Predator for $300. It is basically the same motor (still very very loud), 420 vs this one is 440cc. The Predator has no gauges, no wheel kit, no provision for electric start; gasoline only. This Champion has the 3 gauges I wanted, wheel kit, electric start. Try to change the oil in a Predator: you have to lift/lean it to pour the oil out the inlet hole. This Champion has a drain kit that allows you to put a drain pan next to it and drain it out of the installed hose. [I returned the Predator] This Champion's 7000W is enough to power my entire house if I turn off the two A/Cs and furnace fans. I can't imagine turning on absolutely everything in the house to add up to 7000W. All my other appliances are gas, and don't have a well pump. I currently have it wired to a Reliance 6-switch breaker box, hope to add more breakers. The voltage/Hz stays at a steady 247V / 63 Hz so I have no worry of hurting sensitive electronics. Before I bought I called the "24/7" technical help line to see if Champion Power Equipment is legit. I got the owner of the company who answers before the office hours start up. He answered all my questions, and explained these gennys are returns from Costco which has a very liberal return policy. Mine had 7 hours on it. They have a full machine shop, and go through them thoroughly before sending them out as "reconditioned". I have shopped and shopped and didn't find a better value in the 5000-7000 watt range. Very pleased with the value, quality, features.Read full review

I talked to the gentleman that worked for the company for 20 yrs before going into this business and he assured me that I would be happy with my champion and he was right. I saw one at HD that was beat all to pieces and they wanted as much for it as I got for my generator that was twice the size and had electric start. I've used it on gas and propane and it works well on either one. (just a tip, after using propane if it doesn't want to start just tap on carb with a screwdriver. sometimes the needle valve will get stuck ,It's the best Generator I've owned and You get 24/7 support. best buy I've ever made. I did a lot of research and champion came out the best for the money and support. P.S. had it one week and it got us through a bad Ice storm in NC. everybody else got snow we got Ice . down power lines and such. I wouldn't trade mine for many of the other high price brands.Read full review
