This knife sharpener is well worth it. I say this having had a couple others of different styles. I ran all of my knives, serrated, steak, and carving through. 4/5 pulls like it says to and wow, what a difference it made. I just bought a ceramic knife to cut heads of salad (I was told it won't turn the salad brown), so I don't know how well it'll work on that type. I would have to think it could do just fine. I also like the handle on it. Big enough to hold and far enough away from doing the sharpening. Always think safety!! I bought mine from prioritychef on eBay. They shipped fast, and it was free shipping too.

The course slot is carbide, the fine slot is ceramic. The round file has to course a grit and to large a diameter to be useful. I bought it by mistake thinking it was another similar sharpener that uses diamond impregnated sharpening disks. There's nothing diamond about this except the title. It does work but I wouldn't buy it again as the ceramic parts will load up with metal from the knives and stop working.

I found this sharpener to be better than any other pull through sharpener I have ever used. This one has discs that spin inside. The first slot has a diamond coated sharpening wheel for coarse setting. The second slot has a ceramic sharpening wheel for fine setting. You can push and pull the blade through the wheels. So it's good for left handed people. It sharpen my knives really well.
