I am a remodeling contractor and usually work alone. Instead of hiring someone for the day I bought this for about the same cost and am very pleased with it. It is of decent quality and works very well. It is easy to set up and take down and takes very little storage space. I use 4x8 sheets and it worked very well. I am not sure how well/if it would handle 4x12. I would definitely recommend it.

The arms on the lift do not lock well. They both fell out of place and my first sheet fell and snapped. I was using 4x8 sheets and would not recommend any larger. After putting a few laps of duct tape on the arms, the lift started to work and I could get my project going. The price is nice and it can save you the rental fee, but it may not come without some frustration.

not the strongest tool, but good enough to get the job done. doesn't hold the corners as well as it could, but with a little ingenuity, no worries. mine came in three basic sections and i was able to fully assemble in 15 minutes, very nicely done. i would buy this unit again.

very cheap and flimsy. if you try to crank the hoist with just one hand it will bend and twist out at an angle. you must use a hand on opposite sides of the crank wheel. Wheel brakes don't lock, and the stopper thing thats suppose to prevent hoist from moving backwards is too short and does not even reach the floor. this hoist might work better for 1/2 inch ultralite sheetrock, but 5/8 inch seems to be more than this peice of junk can handle. better to spend a few extra bucks on a better hoist.
