EVERYBODY knows the many red Swiss Army Knives (SAKs). Who knows if they actually use them in the Swiss army, or if the Swiss have an army, or if Switzerland even exists. Actually they do. But if you doubt, you could get in trouble. I did. I tried the economy route. It was a disaster. I wasted twelve bucks and nearly went apoplectic, before I returned to the genuine SAK. So, the issue is WHY. Why do the Swiss charge so much for these knives? They don't even keep bank accounts confidential any longer. There's an element of resentment here, to be honest. But as I use the little thingie, and it is little, I'm finding it very sweet. Everything on it works, well. The little knife is great, much better than a boxcutter. It's beyond sharp. The scissors are great. Do you know how hard it is to make scissors that can cut cellophane and cardboard both? The picture, however, lies, that's my first complaint. It shows the scissors as being pivoted on a screw. Adjustable. Correctable. No such screw. It's a rivet. THAT is unfortunate. So far the scissors are working well, but then what? It's like the red plastic. I got a Mont Blanc pen as a present, and it was allegedly made of "resin". When it broke it turned out to be plastic. The red plastic body on the SAK isn't immune to scratching. They end up looking better than a child's red Chinese beach bucket and shovel, but not by THAT much. So, how many functions does the nano-knife have? A scalpel grade blade, a diddle pair of scissors, a little screwdriver with a brilliant nail file, tweezers and a plastic toothpick. Yes, and a keyring, they have the gall to count that. Why not count "projectile"? you can throw it at someone. And "status symbol"? That would give us a more honest 8. My resentment is still there. There are actually 5 implements of which one really does two things. So, 6? WHY do they have to show a misleading scissors photo and count the silly keyring as an "implement". I'm dinging it a star for that, because you might find yourself asking the same questions and develop an ulcer. This way you'll know there are minor issues but it's a good little SAK. I love this little gadget. I bought one a number of years ago and fell in love with this little gem. It is good quality and is just what I need for minor tasks. The toothpick is one of the best features even though it may gross out fellow dining guest if you make it too obvious! I have lost a few and had 1 or 2 confiscated at the airport but just ordered two more. Couldn't live without it.

Love this knife. It is small and compact. The tweezers and the file work great and the knife blade is sharp. The scissors are great when you are desperate, but their practical use is limited due to the small cut ( about 1/2") each compression of the handle can make... and if you have big hands, well maybe buy a bigger model, I think this one is good for small hands.

Small. Smooth round edges - feels invisible in your pocket. They chose the perfect 5 tools for lightweight use (which comprise about 99.999% of everyday needs). Almost always with me. Not to skin a deer or defend against terrorists. But to cut a string or open a box or first-aid for annoying fingernail burr. I have other tools better suited to open wine or saw wood.

I got this little guy to replace a black one I had. The sides of the black one were becoming detached from over use. I tried carefully to reattach them with super glue, but unfortunately, the toothpick became permanently part of the knife, and I occasionally used it. So I decided to get another one with all of its parts useable. Did not have black available on eBay at the time. This is a very useful knife that takes up almost no room. I keep it on my key chain and thus have a perfectly serviceable multi purpose tool always available. The blade is sharp enough for most small jobs, and the file/small screwdriver are used a lot more than I would have expected. I also use the scissors to cut out articles from newspapers and magazines. Very useful to have around!
