I have used the Explode the Code books with my young children for the last two years and we have loved them. However, there are a few odd pages where we haven't quite been able to figure out what they are asking us to do for a lesson. For probably 90% of the book, it is very straight forward and easy to understand, but these specific pages have left me wondering what the logic behind them is. Naturally, I assumed that if I purchased the teacher's guide, it would explain to me this conundrum and then we could move forward flawlessly with our lessons. I was very unhappy to find that not only did it not explain the lessons in any detail whatsoever, but it simply gave small tips such as "have the child read the words aloud to better understand how compound words work....etc." Anyone with some tiny bit of common sense and knowledge does not need this book to teach their children with the Explode the Code books.Read full review
