Fantastic Value
While not a true "die hard" Star Trek fan, I found this collection of "Star Trek, The Original Motion Picture Collection" to be a great value and definitely worth the more than reasonable cost. I have the VHS (Yes, VHS - that shows you my age) copies of I think 4 of these movies, but their age and the fact that the VHS portion of my combo VHS/DVD player "delights" in "eating" my VHS movies, were the deciding factors in my purchase of this fantastic gift set. Watching each one without worrying about my VHS Player destroying same has been wonderful, and I truly recommend with a 5-star rating that if you are a Star Trek fan - particularly of Captain Kirk and the original cast, then this set of the original six (6) Star Trek movies is for you. While not a true "die hard" Star Trek fan, I found this collection of "Star Trek, The Original Motion Picture Collection" to be a great value and definitely worth the more than reasonable cost. I ordered this to match my next generation collection. It is pictured with thr motion cover in a white box. What came is the new packaging with the art poster in a smaller case no box. All disks on a page container not separate cases. It would have been great to at least have a current picture instead of the false one. Still a great collection for any Star trek fan. But I would have rather had the set I ordered to match up, since I have slight OCD. I ordered this to match my next generation collection. It is pictured with thr motion cover in a white box. Consistent packaging (in terms of the extra features included with each of the 6 movies). Picture quality was excellent - seemed to use the full bandwidth of the HDMI connection to the TV. The only carp is that none (with maybe one or two exceptions) of the people on the commentary tracks worked on the movies they were commenting on. Yeah they were active in the production of Star Trek assets, but not of those movies. One listens to the commentary tracks to hear interesting back stories of the production, and they could have done better with that.Consistent packaging (in terms of the extra features included with each of the 6 movies). If you're a fan of the original Star Trek series and its characters then you are going to love these movies. Even if you are not real familiar with the original series you will still enjoy the interaction of the main characters. It was the relationship between them that made the series so wonderful and its those relationships that carry over into the movies. They will not disappoint.
