We're using this in my robotics class to shrink sleeving onto electronic components and circuits. It is fast and safe to use although the Hi/Lo switch is on the wrong way round (we can live with that - nobody ever looks at it anyway). We've had it only a week and done maybe 20 shrinks so it's a bit early to say how robust it is. It is comfortable to use in teenage and adult hands and I think you would have to try pretty hard to do damage with it by leaving it on a bench etc (maybe don't toss it into a box of woodshavings with the switch jammed with a piece of duct tape). One very minor complaint is that one of the nozzles is not a complete circle which makes it hard to hang up, again fixed by high temperature duct tape.

Nowhere on the box or unit does it indicate it was CE or UL tested and approved. I understand why. It would never pass. The unit is amazingly hot as soon as it's plugged in... and the metal tip stays hot long after it is unplugged. This creates a serious burn hazard to any user who's not super careful. Do not let young children near this unit. I've had other shrink wrap guns and they took a few moments to heat up and then the heat went away rapidly once the unit was turned off. With all that out of the way, the unit does what it is designed to do and at a very good price. I would recommend this only for adult use and extreme care when doing so. Make sure to unplug it and sit it somewhere for a good 20 minutes before putting it away so that the metal end doesn't burn whatever it touches.

We used this once to shrink wrap some of our products for our Etsy shop. It was awesome! Then we brought it out yesterday to wrap some more and plugged it in, turned it on, and nothing happened. It didn't warm up, it didn't blow air. Nothing. We tried all of the troubleshooting tips. We now have this $15 piece of junk taking up space. I would definitely not recommend it. Spend an extra $5 and go to Home Depot.
