This is a very good recording, however Anthology, 1964-1977 by Johnny (Pop) Rivers (CD, Mar-1991, 2 Discs, Rhino Records USA) is a best buy. If you already own the Anthology, this is a good album to include into your collection, but the Anthology will include most of the songs found here. This album contains some folk and blues which Johnny was trying to stretch for. Personally, I believe he might have stayed with Rock and Roll as he was so darn good at it that other genre's he tried - don't seem to hold up to the same quality. Still all in all a very good album. I do not believe this CD is still in print so it might be a good idea to get it ASAP.
I combed both amazon and ebay to find the best cd I could find regarding Johnny Rivers music. I remember listening to my cassette player at work and my assistant production manager telling me of Johnny Rivers. In 2019 I made this happen for me. From listening to the tracks that are on this cd I could not have done better. I love listening to rock and roll music from an era we will never experience again except in the artists that gave us there best. robertkowalski2009
