Tells the story of a black child raised in poverty by a single mother who refused to be a victim or to let her sons become the failures that society expected them to be. Ben Carson started reading and learning, rose to the top of his class, attended Yale on a scholarship, went to med school and became one of the world's leading surgeons, as well as a gifted manager as he was director of a key surgical unit at Johns Hopkins and has served on numerous corporate boards. His mother, at first illiterate, learned to read and eventually earned her PhD. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME true-life/biography about the life of Dr. Ben Carson. This man is one of the world's leading neurosurgeons (brain)in the world! He came from a broken home and lived with poverty. He didn't do well in school and had a bad temper growing up but his hard-working mother always encouraged him, even when he rebelled against her. She also prayed for him, and she wasn't well herself but worked constantly to keep a roof over them. In his teens, Ben realized that things needed to change when his temper caused him to become violent. He prayed and promised God he would change. From then on, he did. He worked hard in school and faced being an outcast. It paid off when he became what he is now famous for. He has performed surgeries that no one else has dared and ... Very warm and inspiring story
I was truly amazed and captivated the entire time I watched this movie about Ben Carson and his life. It gave the viewer such a vivid and wonderful insight into the life and challenges that this fantastically wonderful man of God has overcome through determination and his strong belief in God's guiding hand on his life!! I was simply blown away with this story!! It has left me with a much deeper respect and understanding of this wonderfully talented and gifted man as a professional as well as a man of God!! I think the movie was well done!!!! Thank you for allowing me to share in this review.I was truly amazed and captivated the entire time I watched this movie about Ben Carson and his life. I first saw Dr. Carson speak last year and knew immediately that he was "THE GUY".The film was made well in advance of any bid for public service. Cuba Gooding plays the part so well, it's hard to realize he is an actor playing a part. Ben held nothing back and does not pretend to be perfect, but has been asked to serve and after the film , I was convinced he was the man I want to send to Washington. Very topical with Dr Carson leading the race for the presidency. This film shows a deep understanding of a man who cares deeply and has faith in the welfare of this nation .highly recommended for anyone who cares about this nation.
