    Silly movie, fun to watch, especially if you've refurbished your home!

    I'm not ordinarily into corny, physical comedy; however, when we experienced major storm damage to our home and a friend recommended this movie, we had to see it. It was just what we needed to see the humorous side of refurbishing our home. We didn't go crashing through the floor or lose our staircase, but we did (and do) see money flying away indiscriminately, and the "two weeks" response has gotten to be a standard with us. (It has now been three and a half months, since the storm, and the contractor said everything would be done in two months. Work has barely started!) Everyone we've mentioned the movie to has seen it and laughed at the comparison. It has its very funny moments and its too-corny-to-be-funny moments. Not a movie I'd watch over and over, but good to see at least ...

    The Money Pit (DVD, 2003)

    Funny movie about an attorney and his girlfriend who find the bargain of a lifetime in a stately, elegant old house at a price that is such a steal, only a fool would pass on it. It brings to mind old sayings like "If something looks too good to be true, it probably is", and "Beware. . .When you buy something at a fire sale, you often get burned ..." Well, that is just what happens in this movie. Anything and everything that can go wrong does! Tom Hanks and Shelly Long are both very funny in this movie reminiscent of the classic "MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE". This is a cute and enjoyable movie.

    Funniest movie & great to make yourself laugh when down

    This is one of the most hysterically funny movies I have ever seen. Everyone who loves to laugh continuously through a movie should buy this one, or at least see it. That is the main reason I bought the movie - for the laughs, but I also love Shelly Long and Tom Hanks as both could make a tree laugh. The subject matter is also funny and quite deceiving at times. The construction of putting these scenes together is amazing. The timing of the stunts are incredible - just great! Where did they find these ideas, and who had such a funny mind - I'd love to meet him which would mean I'd never NOT laugh again. Shelly Long and Tom Hanks are fantastic, but the events of this movie are so incredibly funny - no one could help but laugh and laugh out loud! Of course the best parts of the movie ...

    Have you done home remodeling? Watch this movie!

    The fact that this movie is several years old, the storyline and comedy of The Money Pit is timeless. There isn't a slow moment in the movie. The storyline seamlessly weaves the ex-love connection between Shelly Long and her once love interest (classical music conductor) and the purchase of "The Money Pit" of a house that she and Tom Hanks get involved with. Shelly and Tom are staying at the apartment of the conductor while he's away on an extended musical performance, but he comes back home without warning and so Shelly and Tom must find a place to stay immeditately. Tom has a less-than-trustworthy real estate agent looking for a property they can lease or buy, and he comes across an unbelievable house for a give-away price. Seems too good to be true, but Shelly and Tom buy the ...
