    The war

This is an excellent movie. Talks about how the Vietnam war(or any war) has an impact on the people left home, the soldiers themselves. Ptsd. It's set in rural segregated Mississippi in 1969. Great soundtrack. Little known kevin Costner film but it's a great movie to introduce certain subjects to a lower Agee audience

  • The War, Movie, Review

Set in a small Mississippi town and centered on a children's battle over a tree house, "The War" is an allegory about love, death, pacifism, family values and the spiritual and physical wounds of Vietnam. To no small degree it is also about movie stars, who have the power to transform platitudes into warm, affecting insights when they make their presence sufficiently persuasive on screen. "The War" has the benefit of two such presences: Kevin Costner, who is at his most disarming in the role of Stephen Simmons, a Vietnam veteran having trouble returning to his wife and children (the year is 1970), and Elijah Wood, who plays his son. Mr. Costner's folksy sincerity is enough to lure the Spanish moss right off the live oaks, and he works hard in the potato fields the way only a major movie ...

  • A great family movie that will make you laugh and cry.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I watch it all the time. It has the best heart-warming story. It's about a family whose dad, Kevin Costner, goes to Vietnam and comes back with a lot of mental problems. He can't hold down a job because of the flash backs he has (you learn throughout the movie what happend to him and why he has the flash backs, which is also very touching). It's about his kids, their friends, and the war they have against the neighborhood family who are bullies and own the junk yard. They live in the country and it reminds me of the fun I used to have growing up as a kid and things we used to do. It is so true to life. I think everyone can connect with this movie, because all of us have probably thought or done some of the hilarious things they do in ...

  • The War (Kevin Costner and Elijah Wood)

If there is a movie to watch with your family, this one is it. I have seen this movie numerous times and i love it. This movie depicts the life of a father returning home from the Vietnam war and trying to overcome issues from suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. He has a terrible time keeping a job due to a his disorder and in which he can barely keep food on the table to feed his family. His family suffers from their own conflicts in which throughout the movie they eventually conquer. This movie teaches strong family values and really teaches us how to treat and respect others. This is definately a drama and have the tissues on hand as you will probably need them as i did! Hope you enjoy this movie as much as i have!

  • EXCEPTIONAL MOVIE!!!

This is my absolute favorite Kevin Costner film. I CRY EVERY TIME I see this movie, NO LIE. It's just such a tear-jerker, but an absolutely amazing/inspiring film. The movie centers around the lives of the Simmons family, a poor family living in Mississippi who endures many obstacles. My favorite character in the movie was Stu, played by Elijah Wood (such an amazing actor). Stu was such an exceptional character because he believed in his father's words of wisdom and life lessons. Stu often listend to his father talk about his past experiences of serving in the war. The stories were so tragic, but Stu could sometimes relate to them with his own encounters with his town rivalries. This is one of my favorite films. Would recommend to anyone who loves heart-warming films and learning ...
