From experience of more then 10 years of drumming I would recommend the vicfirth 5a sticks over other typicals like 7a for beginners and pros alike as this perfect weight and length along with sterdy grip would improve beginners and make way for perfect all other sizes in future. The tone this one creates is superb. Sticks are evenly matched in wieght and measurements, perfect balance. I like the feel of these sticks. They are just the right length and not real heavy and they are balanced nicely. This is my second pair and they are exactly like the first pair that I got several years ago.
