  • Compelling read

Depicts man's inhumanity to man. Would liked to have more details on how Frederick made his escape to freedom. This ought to highlight man's desire for FREEDOM.

  • Our ugly past, beautifully written

This evocative work by a self-educated slave should be on every mandatory reading list in every school. And then it should be re-read, and re-read.
