    A great book for young historians, animal lovers-especially horses!

    I bought this book rather than see the movie which I feared would be too Disneyfied. This is one of the few books that I have read cover to cover without stopping. Probably because I love horses, I was completely engrossed in the story and found myself crying uncontrollably many times. It is indeed for the young reader and some of the language is quite simple, however it's an important story about the horrors of war and how much sacrifice there is/was--something we Americans haven't been called upon to experience lately. I highly recommend it.

    We need more like "War Horse"!

    I purchased "War Horse" as I really wanted to read it before I saw the movie. I was very glad that I did. It gave much of the movie more meaning and understanding. I also enjoyed the book more because it was written with the horse being the speaker all through the story so you got more insite of the animal's point of view. Couldn't have gotten that from the movie. It was an excellent book and the movie was extremely well done - but I liked the book better. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in WWI history OR to all horse lovers.

    Terrific Book

    An easy read, designed for 8th Grade readers. Beautiful story was the basis for the new Steven Speilberg film. Touching, relatable for anyone who has ever loved an animal.

    Great read

    As expected, a great read. Glad I did read, before seeing the movie! The details of the story really unfold and come to life as only a good story teller can do. The fact that this is based on a true story, makes it more moving.
