About this product

Product Information

All artists are tired of persuading their nearest and dearest to look sad...look glad...look mad...madder...no, even madder...okay, hold it. For those artists (and their long-suffering friends), here is the best book ever. Facial Expressions includes more than 2,500 photographs of 50 facesmen and women of a variety of ages, shapes, sizes, and ethnicitieseach demonstrating a wide range of emotions and shown from multiple angles. Who can use this book? Oh, only every artist on the planet, including art students, illustrators, fine artists, animators, storyboarders, and comic book artists. But wait, there's more! Additional photos focus on people wearing hats and couples kissing, while illustrations show skull anatomy and facial musculature. Still not enough? How about a one-of-a-kind series of photos of lips pronouncing the phonemes used in human speech? Animators will swoonand artists will show a range of facial expressions from happy to happiest to ecstatic.

  • Artists' resource for the sculptor or illustrator...

Excellent resource for artist who do not have access to "live" models. Of course a mirror and your own face is the best reference you will ever have! This book contains pics of men and women alike with expressions running the gamut, fear, anger, screaming, smiling, shouting, smirking, etc, etc, etc. The basic coverage is three photos of each expression in the following manner: Front shot, Profile, and a childs pov front shot (quite useful!). Some expressions have more coverage than others and some models appear more than others. B&W photos of which about twenty appear per page. Grade: A -Jonnie

  • The Facial Expression Book is one book I would recommend to any artist.

The Facial Expression Book is one I would recommend to any one that wanted to learn or expand their art. It is very detailed and easy to relate the human face.

  • Facial Expressions by Mark Simon (2005)

I bought this as reference material for faces. No more, no less. There are better books on facial expressions. But this is merely a collection photographs of ugly people making faces. Which is alright for what I need.
