Comparing the lighter weight and anti-snag features of this Slimline Sidesaddle against Tac-Star's older Sidesaddle with plastic 'split-clip' shell holders, I assumed it to be an excellent alternative. However, what the company calls a "proprietary flexible, synthetic rubber material" is so tight that I found it extremely difficult to remove 5 of the 6 shells once they were inserted, even only part way. I went so far as to apply talcum powder to see if it would allow easier shell extraction, to no avail. The minimal potential of snagging their older units' 'split-clip' is only a very minor concern, but I’d really hate to be in a hurry to reload and have to wrestle shells out of this Slimline Sidesaddle, hence the one star rating. It was easy to install, snug fit but not so snug that you have a hard time removing the shells. I had read that the holders were tight, and the shells were hard to remove. but this isn't the case. Which means the people who make this product actually listened to the people who purchased the shell holder. It sells for a reasonable price, it's low profile so it is out of the way. Good price, good quality, easy installation, low profile, and ease of use. What more could you ask for? It was easy to install, snug fit but not so snug that you have a hard time removing the shells. Highly recommended!
High quality product, easy installation, fits perfectly on my Maverick 88. Only issue is that the shell holders were slightly too snug, there's a line of mold flash on the inside. I reamed them out (a little at a time) with a 12ga. brass bore brush. In 10 minutes they were a perfect fit. Probably other, better ways to accomplish that, too, but it's an easy fix.
