This is not "open box", it is a refurbished chair that has been repainted. The paint was not done curing when it arrived, so be ready to allow the chair to air out if you don't want to breathe toxic fumes. This is a much cheaper option than buying a brand-new steel case chair, but I wish Madison Seating was more transparent with what they're selling.

Chair is very comfortable and was in mint condition aesthetically. The lift lever was not functional upon arrival, however. I spent some time diagnosing the problem and the lever had been pushed up too far into the bottom of the chair and was not engaging with the lift piston. I was able to fix it on my own, but it did take a bit of work. Seems like more of a one-off problem than a consistent issue with this chair so I would not discourage you from buying a great chair at an exceptional price.

I must say that the team at Madison Seating is top notch.. Amazing customer support, very prompt. The chair arrived extremely quick and packaged perfectly, the chair was just as described, used but basically new and the price beyond reflects that. I had a issue with my chair not working properly gas cylinder and reached out to support and to my surprise they went above and beyond any expectation to fix the solution and made it absolutely hassle free in fixing the issue. Recommend buying here. A+

Chair was priced nicely compared to new and looks great out of the box. No idea if it's actually Open Box or Refurbished but it looks as good as new so I'm fine with it. Local FedEx was a nightmare and contacted MS to ask for help even though it's out of their control and their timely responses reflected that. Would definitely buy from this seller again (And hope for UPS delivery. Haha.)

Item was listed as New - Open Box. Item received was refurbished. Seller just told me too bad and that I should be happy I got a good price. Could not disassemble to return. Now have to deal with credit card company. Wouldn’t have minded a refurbished chair if that was what I ordered. I paid a little more thinking it was not a refurb. Buyer beware. Smelled like spray paint out of the box and not sure how well new foam will hold up compared to manufacturer original. Was heavily scratched as well.
