I buy this for my eight year old pug. He has been on phenobarbital for four years to control his seizures. His liver enzymes have been high in the past and since my vet has put him on Denamarin I can tell my pug feels better. I feel like it is not only helping keep his liver healthy, but also what the product information says about brain health seems to be true. He seems more alert, and just has a better look about him, like he feels good. I also think this product is helping his liver metabolize the phenobarbital better and so it helps him more. I have to be careful with what food he eats due to things that can trigger seizures. I will say this pill size 13 to 34 lbs is a little large for him. I followed directions by giving the pill and then administering 3-6 cc of water to ensure he swallowed it well. After a month of this it seemed like he would get stressed out, something you do not want with a pet that has seizures. I thought I would have to switch him to the chewable tablet (a little more expensive) but I did not have to. I was concerned that because the pill has to be given whole, if I did coat it with a tiny bit of food it would not be as effective, but just like the directions say, it is okay to do this for dogs that are hard to pill and it will still work well. I did not see any change in the effectiveness. I give it in the morning and use the smallest amount of canned food just to cover the pill so the pug thinks he is getting a treat, then I always wait two hours before giving him a meal. The directions say wait an hour before feeding but I wait two. I have to give the pug (Frazier) his phenobarbital about four hours before the Denamarin and he has to have that pill put in a small amount of food also, so I make sure he still pretty much has an empty stomach before administering the Denamarin for it to work properly. I will keep Frazier on this medicine for the rest of his life, it is worth it. I am pleased and thankful that I can find reputable sellers of this product on ebay, because it is so much more expensive to buy it at any vet hospital. Read full review

Denamarin has helped my dog live a healthier life. She is 12 yrs old and 25lbs and has been suffering from a few health complications, including arthritis and a torn ligament in her hind leg. Because she needs pain medication to deal with those issues, I give her Denamarin to help counter balance the effects of those drugs on her liver. She is doing great, running, playing and sleeping better. Yes, the pain meds help with most of that, but I couldn't give her those without also giving her the Denamarin. I want to help her enjoy her last years as comfortably as possible, and Denamarin is a must. The only con I have is that the pill is fairly large for her size. I have to wrap it in soft food as a treat and give it to her.

It's hard to know exactly what therapeutic effect Denamarin is having on Karma, our 8-year old schnauzer with liver disease. However, since she began taking it, combined with a special diet, she has enjoyed what appears to be excellent health. She's due for re-testing early in the new year. So for now, we're very pleased with Denamarin and will continue to give it to her.

4 years ago my 18 pound Jack Russell was diagnosed with congested heart failure. He started having problems with his liver from the years of heart meds he's been taking. His doctor recommended Denamarin for medium dogs. I followed the directions on the box and he began showing signs of improvement within a week! Although Jerry is 15 years old he's back to his old self thanks to Denamarin. Since there are no known side effects and Jerry continues to take his heart meds he now on an "every other day" denamarin regiment.

I have been giving Denamarin to my 15 &1/2 year old Puggle for the past year and her liver enzyme numbers have improved. I am very pleased with the result. One of the thing is I dislike about this medication is that in most places it’s out of stock. I find it upsetting because it is helping my dog and I’m afraid I won’t be able ti get it for my dog. I also wish they would lower the price since my dog is on a few medications and prescription food it has become very costly.
