Precious metals have, for thousands of years, been the one true monetary unit accepted throughout the world for commerce. Today, with IRA’s. 401(k)’s, 457 plans and other paper investments, you need all the help you can get to protect your earnings. Gold and silver have traditionally been a great way of doing just that. While it’s true that your 1 ounce or 10000 ounces will still weigh the same in ten years and don’t offer any dividends or interest, it’s the finite amount of gold and silver that is available to be mined, refined and sold that makes gold and silver a great hedge against the coming economic downturn that always takes direct aim and your paper assets: Retirement plans and the like. The Royal Canadian Mint Silver Maple Leaf, with its .9999 purity and hallmark is one of many ways to protect yourself. Backed 100% by the Canadian government and recognized the world over, this very pretty coin has the advantage of almost always being priced lower than its far more popular southern neighbor, the American Silver Eagle. Another plus is the mintage number of coins made by the RCM. The US MINT puts out Eagles in the tens of millions every year, making the numismatic value of the Eagle quite low, but the Maple Leaf is minted in much lower numbers, which may allow it to provide a higher ROI when graded by a third party service such as NGC or PCGS. MS70, PR70 & PF70 Maple Leafs exist in much lower numbers than American Silver Eagles and by that fact alone should be worth more, but the American collector has a misconception that the Eagle is a much higher worth coin, in numismatic terms. This is a result of years of marketing from the US MINT and self interested coin dealers in the USA that make a financial windfall every time they buy or sell. If you want to put this to a test, take your silver to a dealer and be prepared to get shocked when they offer you spot price , and in many cases less than spot price for your Eagle and Maple Leaf. Silver bullion is silver bullion no matter how it’s minted, so why would you pay as much as $4-$8 over spot for an Eagle when you can pay much less per ounce for a Maple Leaf, which comes with the added features of many different obverse designs and, in many coins, incuse and reverse proof quality in the bullion product? The Royal Canadian Mint One ounce Silver Maple Leaf coin is not just beautiful and with a higher content (purity) of silver, but it’s going to cost you less money than just about any other sovereign minted coin, with the exception of the Austrian Philharmonic, another silver coin that is highly underrated. Unless you don’t mind paying much higher premiums, you should absolutely take a good hard look at The RCM SILVER MAPLE LEAF.Read full review

Coins were as advertised and packaged individually in a plastic sheath. Very satisfied.

I enjoy old silver coins and lots of silver bouillon for framing and display; not a buy and sell type of investor.

These coins are some of the best coins out there the American coins can't even hold a candle to these.

For a while the Maples were milky, but the RCM has corrected this issue. They're very nice coins. Thanks!
