Great for Leather Work!
I bought this to use for stamping leather, especially with those 3D stamps that it's very difficult to get a good strike on without bouncing and ruining your work. This makes every 3D stamp I have thrown at it make a nice, deep, and crisp impression, especially my maker's mark. Now, I haven't made any modifications to the press yet, but I plan to very soon, and those will make the press even better than it already is, stock. For the money, hands down, this is well worth it.I bought this to use for stamping leather, especially with those 3D stamps that it's very difficult to get a good strike on without bouncing and ruining your work. Flawed design.
The reason I'm not giving this a higher star count is because there is an inherent flaw in the design. The main shaft sticks outside of the circular plate making dead center off as well. Making whatever you want to work on Stick so far out it's almost falling off. Other issue I have is it doesn't seem like a one ton press, it's most likely a half ton, harbor freight made a one ton and this is less in every sense. It's smaller it weighs 10 lb less. It's exactly the schematics of harbor freights half ton press. The reason I'm not giving this a higher star count is because there is an inherent flaw in the design. OK for small jobs
Quality is pretty poor, but I expected that from China tools. Throat of press is no where near square, looks like something from a sand mold pour? For the $ it’s right what I expected. I’m not unhappy, just be aware you will not be buying a high end tool! Shipped in double boxed package, a nice method since rice board is easily destroyed in shipping. I only need about 80-100 lbs press out force so more than adequate for my needs. Quality is pretty poor, but I expected that from China tools.
