About this product

Product Information

A smart, entertaining, and heartfelt novel about a woman coming to terms with decisions she can never reverse Molly Marx led an enviable life -- until she was found dead along the bank of the Hudson River. A young wife and mother, Molly now finds herself in The Duration, where, with the help of a refreshingly unorthodox guide, she can observe the friends and family she left behind: her plastic surgeon husband who even in mourning can't control his wandering eye, the handsome colleague she found irresistible, a fiercely competitive twin sister, her controlling mother-in-law, a loyal but confused friend, and -- most important -- her purest love, a three-year-old daughter. As Molly watches them try to untangle the events leading to her mysterious end, she relives her past and learns the fates of those she cherished most (and least). Exploring marriage, fidelity, friendship, family, and mortality, The Late, Lamented Molly Marx is a playful yet tender love story about a flawed but charming woman, forced -- better late than never -- to take responsibility for the choices in her complicated life. Reviews
Praise forLittle Pink Slips: "Great read: A breezy poke at corporate greed, celeb worship and the search for Mr. Right." -People, "Reading Sally Koslow's latest novel is like being at a cocktail party with the sharpest guest in the room. With her laser-like-and very funny-observations of human foibles, her wit and insight , Koslow has created a character with both heart and brains. You will love every minute you spend with her!"-Emily Listfield, author ofBest Intentions "Heaven only knows how Sally Koslow pulled off this novel with such precision and wit, and a narrative that drives you to the very last sentence. A story of love, friendship and family told from both sides,The Late, Lamented Molly Marxis a treasure no matter how you look at it."-Betsy Carter, author ofSwim to Me "Molly Marx speaks from the grave with a voice that is fresh, funny and warm. In examining Molly's late, lamented life, Sally Koslow delivers a story about marriage, motherhood, and friendship that anyone who has ever been a spouse, a parent, or a friend will recognize. And who knew hanging out with the dead could be such a delight!"-Meg Wate Clayton, author ofThe Wednesday Sisters "Never has a voice from the grave sounded so delightful. Darkly comic, unflinchingly romantic,The Late, Lamented Molly Marxis a page-turner from the word go."-Michelle Richmond, author of The Year of Fog

  • Interesting and a little depressing

We meet Molly Divine Marx as she is looking on at her own funeral. We see her husband, Barry, her best friend, Brie, her daughter, Annabel, her beloved parents, and her fraternal twin sister, Lucy. The book bounces back and forth between Molly looking on as Detective Hiawatha Hicks tries to solve her case, and Molly's remembrances of being alive. We slowly find out about her life and about her death. We knew right away that Barry wasn't the best husband, but Molly also had some questionable choices--namely, a handsome co-worker named Luke. The pace is kept well, the writing beautiful, and the characters all well-rounded. My only complaint is the ending. Molly is in the Duration (Heaven) and that isn't an easy subject to deal with; however, by the time the reader learns what truly ...

I can not put the book down, it is very good, a lite read, not much thinking, just a good book, to maybe look at life not being here? that is how I am taking it. Don't look too much into life because It will smack you in the face!!!
