Andre Rieu Homecoming
I bought the film as I had seen it on PBS and it reminded me of Masstricht. I lived and worked in Maastricht from 1985 to 1993 before returning to my home here. Seeing the film reminded me of the many good times I had there. I have presonal videos of the same area, so this DVD enhances my perosnnel collectio and personal memories of the time I spent there. As I have Godchildren in Limburg I still visit there as ofen as I can. It is nice that the film has subtitles as it helps those who do not understand Dutch what is being said. I would recommend the film to anyone who loves Classical music and/or Ande Rieu, as you will see him at his best and also get to see his home town, which is also my adopted hometown.I bought the film as I had seen it on PBS and it reminded me of Masstricht. For the true fan, a look frrom whence he came
My first purchase was "Live From Dublin" after seeing it on PBS. I enjoyed it so much I was hooked. And so I purchased the Homecoming next, and was well pleased. The music was haunting and beautiful. The good humor and carrying on of the orchestra members, and the playful teasing by Mr. Rieu make for a really good, entertaining couple of hours. Especially enjoyable are the Platinum Tenors, and the female vocalists. I am not sophisticated enough to know what they are called, but their arias and show tunes are stunningly beautiful. Some of the orchestra members are truly versatile, switching instruments seemingly at will. My one criticism is once you buy a few DVDs, I find a few selections to be repetitive. This is another of Andre Rieu's concerts from his homeland. It is beautiful; the pageantry is unequalled in mature concerts. The bellringer sketch is hysterical and offers some lighter moments. The scans of the crowds are marvelous and their evident emotion and involvement with the music is so moving. I bought this DVD for my mother who is 86 and slowly moving down the road to senility. Seeing Andre Rieu brought back many memories for her from happier days. I have searched for music and DVD's for my mother to help her fill the long hours in the evening as most television viewing is beyond her understanding and this DVD was well worth it. I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys music but especially to "baby boomers" looking for something for their parents ... This is another of Andre Rieu's concerts from his homeland. The Homecoming
I viewed this DVD on PBS and it proved to be SO much more than what was shown on TV. The music is not only beautiful and relaxing but the antics as well as the professionalism is outstanding and very entertaining. I bought this DVD because I can't get enough of Andre Rieu's music. My library is 11 now and I don't want to miss a single note that this magnificient orchestra produces. The quality of the DVD is excellent. I would rate this one as the BEST of ANDRE RIEU dvd'S in my library. Can't praise it enough.
