PRO: It's a good little voice recorder, and I enjoy not having to worry about clogging up my phone storage when I want to leave the recording running while jamming on piano for long periods of time while working out a composition. CON: This thing does not record files that can be transferred to your computer. If you want to get the recordings to your computer, you will have to record line out from the headphone jack to the mic in on your computer, and record in real time via audacity or whatever recording software you prefer. OVERALL: This thing comes in handy and it's easy to power up and capture audio in the moment without the hassle of unlocking your phone and finding an app, waiting for it to open, etc. I don't have to worry about storage running out, so overall this is a handy little gadget, if a little outdated, and well worth the price I paid.Read full review

Very easy to use. Setting operational configurations is super easy, involving only 3 to 4 steps. Screen information is easy to read, fairly large sized font. No back light. Divide and add editing options found in more expensive sets included. Battery indicator strength and display information is helpful. No SD card slot for extra memory, so you are limited to a little less than 4GB of storage space. The unit I was sent had working recording speeds for the HQ and SHQ settings. I could not tell any difference in the sound quality. They both provide stereo sound when recorded audio is listened to from an external source. The SP and LP recording settings are mono and are of poor quality, but consume less storage space. In the unit I was sent, the SP setting sounded even worse than the LP setting and could not be used. LP can be used for recordings in which you don't mind hearing distortion of compressed audio along with a strange background noise. As is, I will use the HQ setting for all recordings and accept that will result in total recording storage space of about 2 GB. The internal microphone is sensitive to distant sounds. Recorded music when played through the built in microphone has some distortion when played at a medium to high volume. For a lower end and fairly inexpensive Sony recorder, a decent product, other than one of the recording settings (SP) malfunctioning.Read full review

Compact is debatable. Only drawback to this wonderful recorder is that you can't hook it to a computer. It has great logic, some editing qualities five folders. Would be nice if you could connect to computer though. Oh display is easy to read too. Can see display in direct sunlight.

Overall not a bad Digital Voice recorder seems to pick up pretty good has options of using a plug in mic and headset. Can be directly plugged in from player to make it a music player as well Probably only issue I have is figuring out the display features.

I did not buy this recorder for conventional reasons. I have a neighbor who is annoying me by target shooting near my home with a very loud firearm. He sometimes will shoot for 1/2 hour at a time. I use the recorder to record annoying sounds , then play them back with the use of a megaphone. The recorder so far has performed as expected. The only shortfall is with the owners manual. It is only available online. My only access is with my android phone making reading the manual cumbersome and difficult. Sony could have offered sending a printed copy for those customers who had difficulty with the online version. Therefore I gave it a 4 star rating and would qualify any recommendation for this product.
