Good stuff ,you can go back and put extra coats on,while hot, to make it a richer darker brown !
Buy swabbers to apply the chemical to metal. Use a face mask as the acrid smell creeps into your lungs...I applied the plum brown using the heat from my gas cooking stove,top burners. When it sizzles work fast and put it on while the barrel sizzles. It cleans up easy if you spill on the stove,just wipe with damp paper towel...When finished and the barrel is wiped down clean, I apply brown shoe polish to give it a shine...I used a screwdriver in the barrel while applying plum brown over the gas jets.....Buy swabbers to apply the chemical to metal. "Relic" look made easy.
I artificially aged 3 replica guns. An 1847 Colt Walker, an 1853 Colt Navy and an 1863 Remington musket to look authentic. They came out great. 3 guns used the whole bottle. Makes the steel literally look 175 years old. Very pleased. I went 320 on the oven temp though. It says 275 in bottle.

Beechwood Casey Browning Solution, works great!
Easy to use. First clean all surfaces to be browned. Either was with warm soap water and rinse, or clean with denatured alcohol. Helps from having splotches. I use a hand held prone torch to warm surface to be browned. Place on foil outside, wife will not like the smell. Solution should sizzle when applied. I repeat proccess until dark brown. Allow to air cool. Surface will rust, normal. Buff off using 0000 steel wool and light oil. Then wipe clean, and then spray with windex to stop the caustic effect of the solution.prevent repeated cleaning of rust. Apply good coat of gun oil and admire tou work.Easy to use.
