I have several books by this author and this new book is one of my favorites. I can't wait to make the Kimono quilt pictured on the cover. All of the quilts have great directions and beautiful colored photos of many options. The Japanese style depicted in this book is easily adaptable to other types of fabrics. There is an especially easy-to-follow diagram for sewing partial seam blocks for the Irori (sunken hearth) quilt. Other favorites are the Igeta (well curb) and Furoshiki (wrapping cloth) quilts. Every quilt chapter contains historical information, fabric focus, and trusted tips for fabric selection, sewing, and quilting techniques. The best parts of this book are the colored and beautifully staged photographs and the clearly illustrated diagrams. My only wish is that I would have preferred a full-size pattern for the kimomo quilt to have been included with the book. I purchased this book for more inspiration to use up some of my Asian fabric stash, but now feel that I must procure even more fabric to make all the quilts that I like from this book.Read full review
