The Stupids are as dumb as they come, true to the children's book characters. Any child who is a fan of the books will love this movie, as it's one silly thing after another. For example, Tom Arnold, as Stanley Stupid, goes into a planetarium, and his daughter, Petunia, accidentally starts the sky show. Both thinking they're dead, Lloyd, the custodian appears. Lloyd sends them back out and they bring the catchphrase, "Trust in the Lloyd," back from "heaven". They think they've been saying his name wrong all this time. It's reminiscent of one of the three books, "The Stupids Die", when Grandpa Stupid tells the family, "This isn't heaven this is Cleveland!" If your little people haven't read the books, by all means, get them. They're side-splitting!!! They're better than the movie, but the movie is cute. Most likely the movie didn't become popular as not enough people have heard of the books.Read full review
OMG! A family favorite for young and old. If you want to feel smart, this is the film to watch. Colorful! Silly! So much went into it and somehow fits together! I expect some catch phrases to grow from this one. The adventure begins innocently enough. The father of the family exclaims, "Someone is stealing our garbage!" The weekly trash collection is the first clue that not all the lights are on upstairs.

Yes , you have to 'get' some of the references and understand the "stupid' way of thinking but it is soooooooo incredibly snarky yet innocent stupidity , the movie has you rolling with tears of laughter in your eyes !! and NOOOO it's not just when you are tired !!! ^-^ We had a houseful watching the movie and there wasn't a dry eye and very few quiet moments ...too much laughter and funny comments This is sooo bad it is GREAT FUN!!! We've watched it at least once ayear since it came out !!
