Excellent replacement gears
I have also used the Athearn replacement gears and these are as good or better. They do seem to fit slightly tighter on the axles than the Athearn gears. Of course, I have no way to know if they will last a long time without cracking like the original gears used in so many Proto 2000 engines. So check back with me in about 20 years. But they seem to be a very tough engineering plastic.

this product tends to break due to temperature, weather conditions (especially freezing), and age. Even new products that have these axles should not be shipped in freezing temperatures. Since this is the only direct replacement source they can inflate the price and especially the shipping.
