About this product

Product Information

A worktext format for basic college math or arithmetic courses including lecture-based, self-paced, and modular classes. John Tobey and Jeff Slater are experienced developmental math authors and active classroom teachers. The Tobey approach focuses on building skills one at a time by breaking math down into manageable pieces. This building block organization is a practical approach to basic math skill development that makes it easier for students to understand each topic, gaining confidence as they move through each section. Knowing students crave feedback, Tobey has enhanced the new edition with a How am I Doing? guide to math success. The combination of continual reinforcement of basic skill development, ongoing feedback and a fine balance of exercises makes the fifth edition of Tobey/Slater Intermediate Algebra even more practical and accessible.

  • Intermediate Algebra

Quite frankly I hate math. This book however is able to teach the concepts in a manner far clearer than any other book I have used. Another think I like about this book is that it is a teachers edition. All of the problems have answers directly under the problem itself, all of the problems. This is especially helpful because you dont have to go to the back of the book and all of the questions are answered not just the odd numbered ones. I purchased this book for a class that is the prerequisite to precalculus. However if you were to purchas this book as an adition to a intermediate algebra class you would be greatly benifited because of its ease of use.

  • Describes content of the book.

This book was very helpful and the content was easy with explainable answers for the student to understand.

  • Intr. Algebra

The book is used simply for class. If it wasn't for that reason, I probably wouldn't have ever bought it.
